County of Iredell issued the following announcement on Jan. 21.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in regards to a child possibly having been being sexually assaulted. The victim was 4 years old at the time of the assault. The case was assigned to Detective Sergeant K. Campbell in the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit.
The victim was interviewed at the Dove House Child Advocacy Center. The child disclosed having being sexually assaulted, and identified Robert Michael Redfear Jr. as the person who committed the assault.
Sgt. Campbell conducting several interviews, and obtained items of evidence during the course of the investigation.
Based on all of the evidence gathered throughout the investigation Campbell was able to receive a warrant on Redfear for, Felony Statutory Sex Offense by an Adult.
On Tuesday, January 11, 2022 Redfear was located and arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies.
Redfear was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was served with the warrant. He them appeared before Magistrate M. Nethken who issued a 750,000.00 dollar secure bond on this charge.
Sheriff Campbell added, Redfear is another example of a repeat, career criminal who we have dealt with in our communities for years. His first felony conviction was in 1990, and as you can see by his criminal history, he has not stopped victimizing our community. These are the type of individuals we deal with day in and day out who need to be incarcerated so our communities can be safe.”

Criminal history: Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Second Degree Sexual Offense, Felony Common Law Robbery, Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Misdemeanor Breaking or Entering, Misdemeanor Stalking, Felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, Misdemeanor Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and several driving related charges.
