COUNTY OF IREDELL: Statesville man faces 14 Counts of Felony Child Exploitation

County of Iredell issued the following announcement on Dec. 11. 

Date/Time of Offense: Sunday, December 5, 2021.

Offense(s)/Charge(s): 14 Counts of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child.

Location of Incident:  Northern Iredell County.

Suspect(s): Jerediah Omar Mendoza, 21 Years Old

                    140 Kingsdale Drive

                    Statesville, North Carolina 28625

 Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, December 5, 2021, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report of two juvenile females having been inappropriately touched while they were staying overnight at a family member’s home.

Detective J. Wabel of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit was assigned the case. Detective Wabel learned the victims disclosed the activity to a trusted adult, who in turn contacted the sheriff’s office.

The suspect, Jerediah Omar Mendoza, came to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for an interview. Based on this statement, and other evidence which had been gathered through the investigation, Det. J. Wabel was able to obtain 14 Arrest Warrants against Mendoza for Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child.

On December Tuesday, December 7, 2021, Jerediah Omar Mendoza was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was served with the warrants, then appeared before Magistrate H. Callejas who issued a 1,000.000 dollar secured bond on these charges. 

This investigation is still ongoing and additional charged could be filed.
