Earl Wright, an outreach career advisor at the NCWorks Career Center in Charlotte, was recognized with a Wayne Davies Award for Outstanding Achievement in Workforce Development.

With a passion for helping others and his efforts to listen carefully to customers to discover their challenges, needs and wishes, Wright is known for finding potential solutions for each person he works with, a release from the office of Gov. Roy Cooper said about the award winner.

Wright coaches individuals who are struggling because of the economic crisis coronavirus restrictions created, the governor's office said. He works with customers from underserved populations through Freedom Communities, assisting them in finding affordable housing, employment, and education.

In part, Wright was recognized for the work he did in 2018 with Charlotte Works and Mecklenburg County's Community Resource Center, the governor's office said. As an employment coach and training and scholarship facilitator, he helped to place 589 in employment opportunities, with those individuals making between $28,000 and $64,000 annually.
