TOWN OF MOORESVILLE: Mayor's Diversity & Inclusion Taskforce Wants Our Next Generation To Embrace Others That May Be Different

Diversity

Town of Mooresville issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.

Children are our future generation of leaders. The Mayor's Diversity & Inclusion Taskforce wants our next generation to embrace others that may be different. If a child has a physical limitation, we want them to feel included and not treated any differently. If a child has a learning disability, we want them to engage with their friends and not feel embarrassed or fear not being accepted. We challenge you to learn something new today about what it really means to live in a diverse and inclusive community. Look around at our youth and see how loving they are. They don't worry about the differences in others, but they focus on how others treat them. How can we learn to treat others with dignity and respect no matter what the differences are?

Thank you Sri Hatharasinghe-Gerschler for being an example to our future leaders and for sharing your perspective. If you want to step outside of your comfort zone and engage in a Community Conversation with us, please feel free to contact us at diversitytaskforcemooresville@gmail.com.
