Town of Davidson issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.

In response to the Town of Davidson’s recent decision to move to virtual board of commissioners meetings, the town will be offering an additional on screen option for virtual public comment. Full details are available below:

  • Email: The public will be allowed to comment by sending written comments via email to bshores@townofdavidson.org of no more than 400 words. These comments will then be read aloud at the meeting by the Town Clerk. In keeping with the board’s current procedures, only one (1) three-minute of verbal reading will be allowed per email. The deadline to submit by email is 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 24.
  • Phone: The public will be able to call (704) 940-9614 and leave a voicemail message in order to provide public comment. These messages will be played during public comment periods, and will be limited to three minutes. The deadline to submit by phone is 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 24.
  • NEW – On Screen Public Comment during the meeting: The public will be allowed to speak on screen during the virtual public comment period.  Register for the meeting here from the link on the agenda and email bshores@townofdavidson.org to request On Screen Public Comment. When appropriate and prompted by the Town Clerk, the community member will be promoted to a panelist and will be allowed to speak for three minutes. At the conclusion of the community member’s public comment, the clerk will then remove them as a panelist and return them to attendee mode.
