Town of Cornelius issued the following announcement on Nov. 10.

The Town of Cornelius Parks and Recreation Department is seeking Statements of Qualifications for engineering, surveying, and design for Legion Park Stormwater Repairs. Deadline to submit is Friday, December 10, 2021, at 2 p.m.

An existing 36” stormwater pipe that conveys stormwater from Highway 115 from the southeast corner of the park to the northwest corner of the park has failed and started to collapse. The failed pipe has forced the closure of the baseball field as sink holes have formed along the failed section. The entire section of pipe will need to be removed and replaced. Additionally, an 18” stormwater pipe from Spring Street has sedimented in and failed requiring an appropriate means to convey water from Spring Street into the park’s stormwater system.
