TOWN OF DAVIDSON: Earns Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
0Comments

Town of Davidson issued the following announcement on May 23.

The Town of Davidson is pleased to announce that it has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is a significant achievement by a town and reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting.

In order to receive the budget award, Davidson’s Finance Department, led by Director Piet Swart, had to first satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation which assess how well a town budget functions as:

  • A policy document
  • A financial plan
  • An operations guide
  • A communications device

Davidson was rated “proficient” in all four of these categories, as well as their fourteen criteria within those categories.

In addition to the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, Piet received a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation.

Davidson Town Manager Jamie Justice notes “we are thrilled to be recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association with a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The whole team here at Town Hall, principally led by Finance Director Piet Swart, has been working diligently on behalf of our residents for years to produce clear and transparent budget materials. It is gratifying to see these efforts acknowledged by the GFOA, and I hope this award helps to show the community the level of town staff and the town board’s dedication to high-quality responsible budgeting.”
