Democratic Senate hopeful DeAndrea Salvador has won her election bid for Senate District 39, defeating Republican Joshua Niday.

Salvador expressed gratitude in the following statement posted on her Facebook page on Nov. 4.

“Thank you Senate District 39! I'm incredibly humbled to have earned your vote, and I'm immensely dedicated to serving you as your next state senator.”

Meanwhile, Niday took to Facebook to concede.

“To the 41,598 people who gave me your vote to be your State Senator, I say thank you. I know you are disappointed. I am disappointed and frustrated. Mecklenburg county Republicans will have no Senate representation in Raleigh for at least two years. I want to be surprised at the results, but I’m not.

“Over the last year I have talked with business owners that want to reopen, pro-life advocates who want their leaders to value human life, families who want lower taxes, and just every day North Carolinians who just want better governance from Raleigh. Sadly we will have to wait at least two more years.

“As far as what the future holds for me? Well I’m not 100% sure. But what I do know is 1) I will be a candidate for something again and 2) I will never stop fighting for conservative values that make this Country the best place to live on earth. Again, to my supporters. Thank you.”
