A certified nursing assistant at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center has been honored with the Caring iN Action Award for the fourth quarter of 2024. Brittany Schmidt, a CNA and surgical tech in women's services, received the award from Dawn Wallick, director of women's services. She was joined by several team members who congratulated her on this recognition.

The Caring iN Action Award is presented by Lake Norman Regional Medical Center to acknowledge exceptional employees. The award includes a framed certificate and flowers. It aims to honor those who make significant contributions to both their patients and colleagues.

Excerpts from Schmidt's nomination submitted by Wallick highlight her as "the glue that holds the Women’s Services unit together." Wallick stated, “Brittany is consistently doing things to help me, the unit, patients, staff, and the physicians, even when she isn’t required to do so. The physicians are constantly stating 'Teach them to do it like Brittany does.' She makes everyone feel welcome to the unit and not only does the things she does to help her coworkers, but she genuinely wants for the unit to thrive and be better.”

A coworker also praised Schmidt: “There is no one more deserving of the Caring in Action award than Brittany. Everything she does comes from a place of caring and excellence. She is highly respected by our doctors who know what a blessing she is to the unit. She makes all of us better people just by being around her.”

Lake Norman Regional Medical Center acknowledges that certified nursing assistants are an essential part of their medical team and appreciates their efforts in improving patient health.
